Offering Thanksgiving-3 Gratitude Verses

November 22, 2017 by Jaime Wiebel 10 Comments

As we gather this time of year may we begin Offering Thanksgiving? Offering God our hearts of gratitude and adoration for Who He Is.

Offering Thanksgiving – 3 Verses on Gratitude

As we move into this time of year it may be easy offering Thanksgiving to God. We sit in front of a table full of bounty surrounded family and friends. What is not to be thankful for? What a blessing that is to us.

Don’t get me wrong. That is certainly something to be grateful for. It is such a blessing from God for Him to give us that provision and our hearts should be full. But what about when it ends?

What happens after the pie has settled? After we have taken our turkey comatose nap? When life gets back in full swing and we get back to the daily grind.

Today, I am going to share with you three verses to take from day-to-day offering thanksgiving to God beyond the holiday weekend.

These are great verses to tuck into your favorite jacket or up on that visor to view them often. They are also short enough to memorize.

He is Good

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever 1 Chronicles 16:34

Understanding that God is good is really the basis for so much understanding of His character. Sometimes, it doesn’t seem like what is happening to us isn’t good. It doesn’t feel good. It certainly doesn’t seem like it is coming from a good Father.

Our understanding of good may differ from God’s one of the definitions of this word is beneficial.

I know as a parent, there are times my children want certain things in a certain way. Last night my daughter wanted to eat chips for dinner. But I know that is not beneficial to her health or her hunger cravings. So we told her no. After, a great fit, we stuck to no because it was for her good and we want what is good for her.

Our Father in Heaven is good. It is not what He does and it is not just for our personal gain. He is always good. It is who He is. Share on X

If we do things for our children for their good how much more is our Good Father able to do for us (Luke 11:13).

The Gift of Jesus

When we accept Christ as our personal Savior, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). It is a gift from God to those who ask Him. Share on X

If there is anything we can be grateful for on any day, regardless of our circumstance, it is eternal life and the gift that God gave us through Jesus. He gave us the gift of His One and Only Son (John 3:16).

When we deserved death, He offered us something greater. He offered us something this world never could. God has offered us the gift of Jesus. He offered us a restored life so that we could have it eternally with Him. Praise the Lord!

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Eternal Life

Life is full of ups and downs. Mountains to climb and deserts to cross. Lately, there is so much tension in the human race. It seems out of control. We are getting more anxious as a society and acting out on those around us.

Society has an all for me mentality. We are trained to think as individuals and act according to that way of thinking.

The Bible teaches us just as our own body has many parts and each part functions differently but we are one body. In Christ, we are one body and He is the head of that body.

We are going to someday live in peace. I know that is what everyone is looking for here on earth but that will not happen until Christ returns.

As the body of believers, we are to act as one body. Even within the church, we are disjointed. Acting as individual members seeking our own gods.

But we have hope. We have hope for a future. We have hope that is is not our home and we are just passing through (Hebrews 11:13). That is something, on days that seem like mayhem and ruckus are vast, we can celebrate that our God is in Control (Psalm 83:18) and that in Him we have eternal life.

And this is what he promised us–eternal life. 1 John 2:25

Offering Thanksgiving through the Gifts of God

God is eternal. His promise to us is eternal life with Him through Jesus Christ our Lord. That is something to celebrate. That is something to hang our hope on. When life turns us upside down and all around. We can use these three verses to Praise God for Who He is and for the gifts that He so graciously gives us.

Love these verses, Jaime! No matter what is happening in our lives, these are truths we can always be grateful for. I also love how you explained our view of ‘good’ vs ‘beneficial’. Looking at things from that perspective helps a great deal when we don’t quite like the ‘good’ that we’re experiencing now. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!

Thanks for the link up! I always love coming here and being encouraged. Thanks for those wonderful verses, this morning, too. Always good to read familiar verses and be reminded of them. I think the familiar ones get over looked the most often.

Thank you for the post. It is so true that what we want and what we need are two very different things. Too often what our self nature wants is so very damaging to our spirit. I am thankful we have a heavenly Father who loves us so well that He leads us to walk in paths that deny the self and build up spirit. What love! It certainly doesn’t feel good at the time but what a harvest at the end.

Thank you for writing “But we have hope. We have hope for a future. We have hope that is is not our home and we are just passing through.” This is so very true. We can testify to that! What hope we have is due solely to Jesus.

    God bless,
