Adventure and Sitting Among Friends #88

August 16, 2017 by Jaime Wiebel 25 Comments

Adventure

I don’t usually write posts like this but the kiddos are about to go back to school, so I want to make this writing brief. I wanted you to be able to join us for the summer adventure that we have enjoyed.
Adventure means an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity even charting into unknown territory, according to the Smart Lookup on my computer.
I love adventure. In fact, when I moved to Hawaii, I had a job and two suitcases and an adventure ahead of me.
I couldn’t do that with kids, especially the hazardous part. Now it’s pack waters, snacks, extra clothes, the works. Have a bit of a plan.
I love exploring places we have never been. But what’s, even more, fun is doing that with kids. They have a fresh perspective on life.
Even if I have done it before, it can be a whole new experience seeing it through the eyes of a child.
At the end of last school year, my son wrote a report on our home state. So, this summer we have been exploring the places around us. It has been really fun! And one of the best parts is so many of them have been free or very inexpensive.

Family Time is so Important

Family time is so important. I grew up in a family of six and family time was greatly treasured. Spending time with family is a great way for kids to get life-long bonds.

Below are a couple of collages of my family on those family adventures. I am excited for you to get a peek into our summer. So, come on, and join us on our adventures.
I don’t have tons of pictures because I am always too busy with whatever we are doing that the camera is a total last minute, “Ooh, I should have taken a picture today!”

This was completely unexpected driving to find an old country store. We discovered a huge lake completely covered in lily pads. God is such an awesome artist. Look at those beautiful flowers!

We have had tons of fun with family. We went swimming and fishing at the lake. Then swimming some more. We also went creek stomping and hiking through a local park (that’s a big hill we hiked down to the creek). Cousins are so much fun!

We also had a ton of fun exploring local parks, going to a baseball game, trekking through local museums, and visiting new towns. What fun!

This is the first year that we have probably done these type of road trips. The kids are getting bigger and can pack up a bit better. It truly is quite fun! Thanks for joining us, Susan.

I take my camera with me but actually getting it out to take those fun photos, I usually forget. I try to be in the moment and not witness it behind a camera. Thanks for joining us, Kelly!

Thanks. I always enjoy seeing peeks into other people's lives but don't always think to let others in. Thanks for the encouragement, Michele!

I am quite sad that summer will soon end since winter is bitter cold in New York. I enjoyed reading your post about a fun filled adventure. Much blessings to you

Hi, Diana. I am glad that you stopped by today. Winters can get cold here, too. But fall is always so lovely and that is something to look forward to. Have a great rest of your summer.

Aww, what sweet family pictures and a beautiful brood you have, Jaime. And is that you with all of that long hair? Lovely! Thanks for reminding us that making memories with our family is so important. I'm sure your kiddos will hold on to those fun times they had with you and your husband for a lifetime! Thanks so much for the linkup, my friend!

All that brood isn't actually mine but some of them look like mine because they belong to my sister and brother. I really hope my kids will be able to treasure these times like I did from my childhood.
That is my long hair. The picture I have on my site is quite outdated. My hair grows pretty quick and I have a ton of it so I grow it out and donate it. It's about time for a cut.
Thanks for joining us here, Beth!

Sounds like so much fun, creating so many memories as a family! This summer was a blast for us as well! We moved to a new location last September, so this summer we were able to experience 4 wheeler riding (going muddying), fishing in the pond, and an amusement park right down the road. So much more adventure for us to experience with our five children!

This sounds like a lot of fun. It is so nice to be able to make memories with our kiddos that they are able to take with them the rest of their lives. My middle guy has a mind like a trap when it comes to us doing things together. He remembers all the details even the ones I have forgotten and they are always accurate. This is a great way to get their minds working and rolling in the summer. Thanks for joining and sharing with us your summer memories, Denise.

Summer goes way too fast. I have wanted to grab every moment to fill it with things they can treasure. It is way bittersweet for me sending my kiddos off to school. I so badly want to keep them home but they are so excited to go back and see their friends. Thanks for joining us, Julie!

Jaime, it really does sound like a great family adventure! Thanks for sharing it with us. It makes me yearn for the time when our kids were that age. Have a great week.

I have tried negotiating with my kids to stay this age forever. They tell me they can't. God makes them grow. Well, who can argue that. Packing in these memories sure does help. Thanks for joining us here, friend!

Taking time to disconnect and reconnect with your family is so important. This summer has been one our busiest, but we have enjoyed creating memories alone the way.
