Friend, I have been there with you. Thinking it was all too much for me to understand. Too complicated. The more you learn, like any subject, it all begins to flow together and make more and more sense. It is over a thousand years of history. That in itself can seem quite daunting. The great news is God will teach us the things we need to know to build on each thing, precept on precept, as my grandmother always says. Glad you're here!
