Recently, meaning the past couple of years, I have carried a very heavy heart. I felt like God was with me, yet I had this burden I could not shake. I felt I was trying all I could humanly do to get the situation to turn around. I spent time in prayer and felt God was clearly saying not right now or was He was saying maybe never. Will I ever get out of this season in my life? I can’t do this another day.
We often times carry the weight of the world on our shoulders.
You may have jobs that don’t seem to give you a break. Bosses that demand beyond what we can do or want to do. Deadlines and paperwork that have you buried under. Paychecks that are spent before you get them.
You may have kids that never seem to stop. I am pretty sure I am not the only one with a bunch of Energizer Bunnies. They need so much, who would have ever thought. They need this paper done, they need this diaper changed, they need this new thing and they need it all right on time. Since they have no concept of time they only think “now” works.
You’re torn in every direction.
You may have illness that you think was just on the upside of the hill only to go to the doctor to find out that you’re actually heading back down. You try to keep your head above the blankets only to find yourself crawling deeper down in that bed.
You may have a child or a family member struggling with battles of drugs and alcohol. When you think they are on the road to recovery they call again in an altered state or requesting money for “support”, then lose all their marbles because your not “there” for them.
All these things just keep you buried in a pit that seems to have no walls or way out.
You may have a marriage that is always on the rocks and you feel the next wobbling rock will land you right in the water. You don’t know which way to go or look in a house where you a supposed to feel the safest.
You may be thinking how much more of this am I going to have to take.
The world will offer you lots of choices. A little pill to make it all go away or at least seem a little more palatable, inspirational words, and promises that never seem to hold up.
If you want healing for your tired, overwhelmed, and struggling soul, go to the One who created your soul. HE is calling you to him. HE is drawing you in with rest for your heavy burdens.
Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT Tunable LASB) says:
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
If you can imagine physically carrying a yoke around your neck or around your shoulders, oh, so heavy it must be to carry. How would you walk five steps with it let alone carry it for, “how long have you been carrying that burden for?”
Dear friends, isn’t it time to let it go. You can give it all to Him. This is what he promises when you seek a relationship with Him. He is drawing you to Him. He says, “Come to me”. He will give you rest for that weary soul. He says give up your burdens to Him. He wants you to surrender the grip you have on your burdens. He will trade you for His light load. He doesn’t worry. He knows all that he has for you. He is bigger than all your cares combined. He Loves YOU. Don’t be afraid of leaving it all at His feet. Here you will find rest for your souls.
I have time and time again surrendered my heavy load to my Lord. Praise God that He is a living God and when I asked for all His promises, He is there. He gives me rest. My heavy burden that I have been carrying for several years is gone. I have some things to mend but my soul is at rest. In fact, it is celebrating all that He has done for me. Good and bad.
Friends God offers so many promises to you. I pray that His words will sink deep down in your souls and free you of those heavy burdens. I pray that these verses will be a start to a long journey of finding rest in your soul through Christ.
May your day be filled with rest.

Those verses are so wonderful. They show how good and kind Jesus is. What a savior we have; there is none like him! The king of the world…so humble and gentle. Amazing.

Thank you Jill for stopping by. I love having the assurance in a good God. I love knowing that God is always good in His purposes. I love knowing that I don't have to carry life on my own and I can lay it all at His feet.
Moses wambai kiarie says
Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest….it is a spiritual issue……..unless we allow ourslves to be led of the spirit we will not really understand how to unburden ourlselves and let the lord carry our burdens.
Key to finding how is in the statement Jesus made to the effect that those who worship God MUST do so in spirit and in truth(john 4v24)…….for God is spirit.
The spirit refreshes us(where the spirit of the lord is there is liberty ),renews our strength(…those that wait(in the secret place)upon the lord shall RENEW their strength they shall mount up with wings like eagles………..
Problems rarely go away, but God gives us the strength to endure till we find answers.
