Mommy, Where is Jesus? Where is Jesus? My little girl was shouting as she was running around at Christmas time. We had the manger scene set up but baby Jesus was apparently missing.
Do you ever feel like that? Your searching or feeling completely alone and you wonder, where is Jesus? Some major tragedy or disaster strikes your family or your friend or sometimes your entire country and you run around shouting, Where is Jesus? Where was God when I really needed Him?
What are you really looking for? Are you looking for the warm fuzzy feeling? Are you looking for the knight in shining armor to swoop in on a white horse? Were you looking for someone to take it all away?
There are several things you should understand about God and His character. God is perfect Love. God is ALL good. He is perfect in ALL things. God is ALL knowing, ALL powerful, and ALWAYS present.
Let’s start at the end and of that awesome list and move backwards. God is always present. He is everywhere. Does He have to show up if we think that we can handle things or take care of things ourselves? No, I still believe that He is able to be everywhere. This does not mean that He is in everything. He is not the spirit of the tree or of the wolf or where ever some may consider spirits to be. However, His spirit can reside in you if you have accepted Him to be Lord of your life.
Next, He is all powerful. I love this story of God’s amazing power.
Elijah, a prophet of God was sent to tell the Israelites to stop worshiping idols. Their idols happened to be stone statues. They had been in a famine for three years and they had been praying for rain and nothing was happening (not surprised, neither was Elijah). Elijah comes along and says you have to stop worshiping idols. Then he said, I’ll tell you what, you make an alter and pray to your god and I’ll make an alter and pray to God and we will see which one answers us. He said whichever God sets fire to their alter is the true God. He built his alter; they built theirs. He poured water all over his alter three times just so they could see it was not anything he was doing. They prayed to their big stones. He prayed to God. All of a sudden fire came down from Heaven. Can you imagine this scene? Everyone standing around waiting for something to happen and fire is pouring from Heaven onto Elijah’s alter and burns up the whole thing right down to the water and the rocks. This was obviously my shortened version. To read to whole version check out 1 Kings 18.
Sounds unbelievable, it’s not. God is ALL powerful.
God is all knowing, He knows your thoughts, down to the deepest part of your soul (Hebrews 4:12). He knows all you do even in the most secret places and times. He knew you since the beginning of time and knit you in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). He knows the plans that He has made for you (Jeremiah 29:11). He knows the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7). He knows all that has ever happened and all that will happen.
God is perfect in ALL things (2 Samuel 22:31). He can not do wrong or anything that is evil. God is all Good and does good for all who serve His purposes.
God is perfect love. I didn’t just say God is loving or capable of love, He is Love. He is the creator of Love. It is not an ability or an act of Love that He commits or pours out on us. He is enduring Love (1 Chronicles 16:34).
We can relate to this. After all, we are made in His image. We can love someone or something, so we can know the feeling of Love. But God’s love, what is called agape love, is perfect love. The most complete love. The unconditional, uninhibited, unending love.
This Love sent His only Son to the cross, to die, and to bear all of our secrets, our shames, our unmentionables to Himself. For one reason, LOVE! (John 3:16)
A love so great that He said I can not be without you any longer, it is time for me to send that ultimate sacrifice so that our relationship can be restored someday to its fullest.
You can continue to go through life and wonder where is Jesus? Where is this God that loves me; or you can make a decision to surrender to Him. Seek Him and His will for your life. Allow Him to restore your separation from Him that He alone can restore.
If you have been searching for answers and feel lost or like you are getting no where in a hurry. Don’t wait. Don’t wander around anymore wondering where He is.
He loves you. The God of this universe is waiting for you to come to Him and begin your walk and journey with Him.
I will pray for you this week that you will stop fumbling over a hopeless search and find what you are looking for in Christ alone.

It's all about seeking Him! He wants us to come to him, but we have to be willing to walk toward Him. And if we do, we will find joy, peace, and fulfillment even in the hardest of times. Thanks for sharing Jaime!
