Peace for the Season & Sitting Among Friend Blog Party #2

December 9, 2015 by Jaime Wiebel 30 Comments

Christmas and the holiday season can be a very exciting time or a very stressful time for families. Some people experience both making for a whirlwind of emotions.
Almost seven years ago, my husband and I lost twins. One week before Christmas, I was in the hospital delivering them. For a couple of years after, I would get very anxious right after Thanksgiving and I could not figure out why.
Finally, I realized like clockwork this time of year meant facing this in our lives all over again. Although God has done a miracle in rescuing my heart, I still think about them. I know that they are in His loving arms and I praise Him for that.
This time of year brings a bit of sadness but also a lot of peace. I know some people may not understand what God did and does in those situations but we can be certain of one thing. God loves us.
He is our rock and foundation when life is tough and trials come our way. We can draw near to him and He will draw near to us. He is God and even if we donโ€™t understand, we can be granted a peace that would surpass that understanding.
For me, Christmas has always been a joyous time. To not only celebrate the life of Christ but to celebrate the life Christ has given.

Now it means treasuring the memories I have and looking forward to making more in the future.  I love getting together with my family. I love giving gifts to the people I love. As I get older those occasions seem to be fewer. So I will hold onto the time God grants us and pray for joy in each of those moments.

What things are you facing this holiday season? Christ came to this Earth as Immanuel, meaning God with us. Even though we may feel alone, God is just a prayer away. I pray for each of you as you read posts this week. I pray you will be encouraged by each of them. Whether you are facing a trial or a difficult season in your life I pray that you will find joy in the moments that are laid out before you.
Have a wonderful week.

Aw, Jaime, I am so sorry for your loss-I cannot even begin to imagine the heartache of losing a child, but in your case, two. So glad that God redeemed your heart and you are able to push past that anxiety and look at the blessing. God bless you this Christmas season. Congratulations on your second week!

Thank you for sharing why Christmas can bring up a lot of emotions for you. I have a friend facing the same situation, so I'll share this with her. Regardless of our emotions, Jesus is still Emmanuel. I am so grateful for this truth! Linking with you at Coffee for Your Heart.

I could not find my post. I will keep looking, when I started I didn't label my posts so they go lost in the crowd. It is a tough time for so many and I pray that they find God's peace.

Thank you so much for stopping back by and your heartfelt note. There are so many mommas out there that have lost babies and I just want them to know there is a place to find peace and that is with Jesus, in Him alone. He was my rescuer and He can rescue the heart of others if they look to him. Have a wonderful week.

So sorry for your loss of twins and glad that you have found peace in God, I too have lost a child, in this case he was 40 and I know the painful emotion that comes this time of year, it was on the 8th of Dec, 2008 for us, which makes it hard for all our family and we will never understand his (my son's) reason. But it has left us with questions and broken hearts.

Praying for you and all moms that have had losses of their children.

Thank you for stopping by Oh My Heartsie Girl this week to share your story!
    Bless You and your family!

I'm so sorry for your loss, Jaime. I wanted to thank you for your bravery and encouragement though. My family has received some devastating news lately and even though my heart is hurting, I know God's will is being performed somewhere in this and that alone is the only thing giving me peace. I'm so thankful for the hope that Christmas offers. Thank you for hosting this party, my friend. Hope you have an amazing week! Blessings ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for that but to me it is not bravery, because I am weak but my God is strong. My peace comes from Christ. I am humbled that He gives this to us when life is so difficult. He knows how to draw us near to Him so we can remember His love for us is so great and our dependence is for Him. I am sorry that you are facing tough times. I will be praying for your family and for heart to be touched by His presence. Many blessings friend. Thank you for stopping by this week. Look forward to seeing you back again.

Thank you for your invitation to share a post. I am sharing an older post that is still in vogue. Since I posted it a year ago – after reflection on what the church I was attending was teaching, I have joined with a new church, that is not afraid to proclaim truth.

Having no children makes Christmas different for us, yet because Christ came, we praise God for the beauty of this season. We look to Him for the joy that He brings and not be concerned that our Christmas does not look like so many others.

Beth, although this time of year always brings the thoughts of those little babes, Christ has comforted me in ways that are beyond my understanding. When I was digging into the Word for comfort 7 years ago, I came across the verse Phillipians 4:6-7. When I began to pray and pour my heart out to God I asked for one thing and that was peace. I can attest to the fact that He is the Prince of Peace because that is what He has freely given me. Every time I think of my little babes, I am more overwhelmed with God's love and Peace that with grief. It is through Him that I can testify to greatness. Thank you for joining us, friend. I hope to see you post up with us next week.

Oh what a traumatic event to loose two babies, and it was no wonder that you suffered unrest around thanksgiving time. I am glad that God brings healing and his hope then and now. Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story.
