I have the same struggles with making a plan to serve God, and then feeling discontent when life interrupts and my well thought out plans get derailed. What I have seen over time, though, is that even when I think my plans aren't working, God's are! Some of my best adventures with God have been the "off-road" kind, the ones that are unexpected, the kind I could never plan. This makes me think of John 3:8: "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” You just never know where the Spirit will lead you!
