In the Wake of Comfort

First of all, I just want to say to all of you who prayed for me and my family this week, thank you so much. Your comments have been such a blessing. I have felt the peace so deeply this week. My son’s appointment went fine and all is well.

Last week’s post, Flooded with Peace, actually went beyond what I disclosed. I actually wrote last week’s post after the passing of a dearly loved aunt. One week it was the uncertain doctor’s appointment with my son and the next week it was facing a dear loss.

I try to guard myself sometimes and not let people in for fear of giving too much information. So, I kept that private. I have been overwhelmed with the prayers from all of you, I thought it only fair to be a little more transparent.

God of All Comfort

I am reminded of the verses in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

As I was writing last week’s piece, I was in the wake of the unknown doctor’s appointment and a death. Still, the peace and comfort kept flooding me.

Christ knew what I was facing and He was right beside me. He was holding me tight and rescuing my heart.

Your prayers played a vital role in that. That you cared enough about me to go to the throne of grace on my behalf, bless your hearts.

My husband’s aunt passed from complications of Huntington’s Disease, which is a genetic disorder. Her passing also brought back to the surface the idea that this could someday be us. The thoughts were terrifying and sobering at the same time.

We are assured, God is good and we have the hope that He gives us in His Son.

Comfort in Trials

As we face these trials, I know we can seek His comfort. I know, God is in control. I know, He knows the path He has laid out for us. He knows me and calls me by name and I can rest my weary head in His comfort.

I know these words may need to be heard by someone today who is gripped by fear of the unknown. My job is not to just keep it inside but to share the comfort with others around me. If this brings comfort to one other person, then all Glory to God!

I love how those verses start out. ALL praise to God!

Life is scary. Life can have you feeling tangled in a web of defeat. But God is merciful and the source of ALL comfort.

Friends, this is why I write here. Because we are the church. We are the family of God. We are friends together Seeking God.

We are here to encourage, build each other up and when a brother or sister is hurting, we stand beside one another. We seek comfort for one another that can only come from Christ.

When God has poured all His comfort out on us, we are able to give that same comfort to others.

Hope in Christ, Alone

The reason I decided to let you in on my week was because I want to extend that comfort to someone else. I want you to know you are not alone. If someone is reading this today and feeling overwhelmed by what may seem like one trial after another, there is hope. That hope is in Jesus Christ.

1 John 4:9 says, This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

God loves us so much, He sent His only Son so that we might live. Choosing Christ is immediate. It doesn’t begin at death. It is immediate life. Transforming and renewed life, now, through God’s Son, Jesus.

Why am I a Christ follower? Because I can’t do this alone. In 1 John, we are told we can live through Him. I need Christ. With Him, I have hope, peace, comfort, love and I never have to live life alone.

Friends, the same hope is available to you. Seek God with your whole heart and you will find the hope you are seeking in Him!
