As God stitches each one of us into His story, he carefully picks the pieces and puts them into place. He knows each one us so intricately and knows where each stitch has been placed. We are beautifully crafted and evidence of His amazing creation and power.

This week, I have the opportunity to share with you the new devotional from Ramona Richards, My Mother’s Quilt: Devotions of Love, Legacy, Family, and Faith.

As I picked up this book,

I began to cuddle in the comfort of the beauty and wisdom pouring from each of these stories. Just as the cover displays, stories are pieced together to honor the wonderful women of faith that made these quilts.

My Mother’s Quilt has full-color pictures of each of the thirty quilts featured throughout the book. Each devotion has the name of the featured quilt, a Bible verse, a devotion, pictures, and a prayer starter.

The patterns and prints are stunning and an appreciation for the art of quilting will only be enhanced by the love of family story-telling.

What I love about the stories that are shared in My Mother’s Quilt is we can see the impact of a mother’s love for her children and the dedication of prayer and teaching God’s Word to future generations.

Generations of faithfulness through Christ-following women is a testimony of the love that God shows through the ages when faith is passed from one generation to the next.

Here are just three of my favorite quotes from My Mother’s Quilt that made me consider the impact I want to have on my children.

Sometimes I’m asked why I so treasure a quilt that faded and lumpy. It’s because in my family, the Ohio Star is more than a quilt. It’s a symbol of hope. (page 34)

“That’s bright,” I said. “Gorgeous purple…” I told her that purple was traditionally the color of royalty, a fact that didn’t seem to faze her. She just nodded. “We should wear more. After all, we are God’s children. She looked straight at me. “Royalty. We should act as such. Treat each other as such.” (page 52)

Throughout Scripture we are encouraged to gather in His name, not only for worship, but for the strength to be had in uplifting and prayer for each other. (page 148)
