You Are Uniquely You

November 2, 2015 by Jaime Wiebel 26 Comments

Growing up in my family meant there were four kids
always around.  Often times my name was
CyndyJaimeMattMarcy.
Many people said that we looked alike and could
recognize us by family name.  Of course,
none of us could quite see what other people saw because we saw us each
individually. We could see our differences and our uniqueness apart from one
another.
My oldest sister loves animals and plants.  She has the gift of always spotting the
different species and loves talking about them.
My brother is very gifted at fixing and building
things, and a magnetic personality.
My youngest sister has a gift of helping people in
the field of medicine.  She is an ER
nurse and great with people.
My gifts and passions fall in the area of teaching. I
love when people learn new things and make connections with anything new.
Although we all came from the same set of DNA, we are
all very unique.

I look at my brother and sisters and wish I had some
their same gifts and talents.  But God
didn’t create me to be like them.  He
created me to complement them.  He created
me to be a member of the family.  A
unique member of the family.
Although each of us have our own gifts and talents, we
can appreciate what each one of us bring to the table. We are all different and
unique.
If you have children of your own, you can attest to
their differences as soon as they arrive, which probably makes you laugh because
you know exactly what I am saying. They are born with their own personalities
and their own unique qualities.
What I love about our Creator is He knows what we
need. He knows what we can handle and He created us to be that person.
It is easy steer our eyes at the people around us
and say, I wish I could be (her or him)…
I want to challenge you today to celebrate the
person that God has created you to be. Celebrate the unique qualities that
he has given just
to you
.
This beautiful Psalm reminds us that God was
thinking of each one of us individually when He created us and praises Him for
His workmanship.
For you created my inmost being. You knit me together in my
mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your
works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the dark of
the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in
your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How
precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Psalm 139:13-17
This psalm does not suggest to us that we are
random. In fact, it is clear that the Creator of all had a plan for us.  Each of our days, every single one of them, were
recorded in His Book.
We can take comfort in knowing God has a plan just for us. How often do we fret
and worry about things we cannot control. We fret or worry about not being good
enough or worthy of the God that not only created us but created the entire
universe. We even fret and worry about our kids and their future.
God, however, does not. He is not worried about how He is going to take care of us. He is not sitting in heaven wondering what is
going to happen next.
He had your days written into His story and they were laid out
before Him before
a single day had passed. He knows you. He designed your most intricate
parts.
So right now, search down deep in your soul. Your
creator is telling you, you were fearfully and wonderfully made. You were
handcrafted to be just you. Praise Him for His creation.
I love handcrafting items. I get great pleasure in
creating something that is unique. Something that has my personality and love
sewn into each strand. As my hands go across each individual piece, I love it
more and more.
You were not made by accident. You were made with
the purpose of worship and communion to the Master that handcrafted His
masterpiece. His most valued creation.
That is you my friend. God has created you to be
uniquely you. As he wove you together, as each strand was put into place, He
was loving you with the greatest of love.
You are His most valued creation. You are
beautifully, wonderfully, and fearfully made to be YOU!

So go and be YOU
because God loves the YOU, He created.

I love to encourage others but these are things I have to remind myself. Many posts start from a conversation I have in my head often times with myself and with God. Things I bring before God and things He so graciously encourages me with. Thank you for stopping by and thank you for encouraging others.

What a beautiful reminder of God's love for us and our uniqueness in Him! I am encouraged every time I read or hear this Psalm. Sometimes it is hard to believe but I am truly humbled that God created me for this moment in time to serve, honor, and glorify Him. Thank you for sharing this post on Grace & Truth. My boys are often exasperated by how I call them a list of names:) They are also uniquely different. It is liberating, isn't it, to realize we are God-designed – the realization of it totally changed how I saw myself. Thank you for this beautiful encouragement!

I have started doing this to my kids, especially when all the cousins are around. They haven't quite noticed or been exasperated by it yet. I never minded being called one of my siblings names, people still mix us up and we have all just decided to smile nicely and move on.

I would love to see us through God's eyes, but that won't happen until I get to heaven. Our humanness gets in the way so much but the thought that He is Creator keeps me going.

God gave us His Word so we could know Him more and understand ourselves and who we are. I believe we can see ourselves on this side of Heaven. Maybe not fully, but if we were not able to see how unworthy we are we would never see the need for a Savior. If we were not able to see what He made in us, it may keep us feeling that we are not worthy of moving forward or doing His work. God wants us to serve His purposes. He wants us to know we are unique and have gifts and talents that He gave us. He wants us to know we are loved. He wants us to know all of that here and now. I appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts here today.

I am so glad we are different each with a variety of talents, skills, and desires, God knows us by name and does not get mixed up and call us by someone else's name (smile). Our styles are different too when we write. Many are eloquent and so talented in keeping attention, while others write as they talk – and are just plain old me. We all have our own world to reach for our Lord, and it is up to us to fill our place. Thank you for an insightful and encouraging post shared with us here at Tell me a Story.
